MEDICAL OUTREACH/HEALTH FAIR and MEDICAL MISSION

One of the vital needs of every individual is affordable health care and health education.  PCCI is mindful of this and has conducted yearly medical outreach and health fair events for free to those with no insurance benefits. This program started in December 1997 when PCCI first acquired its building on Beltline Rd., Carrollton.   PCCI partnered with area hospitals in the DFW area such as Dallas Medical Center, Methodist Hospital of Dallas, Parkland Hospital, Komen Foundation and with individual members of the North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians.  This community service benefits the under-privileged members of the community who are without health insurance.

The Medical Outreach Program offers free mobile mammography, free prostate cancer blood test, cholesterol, diabetes blood sugar test, blood pressure checks and free consultations with our volunteer doctors, physician assistants, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, optometry technicians and other medical volunteers.  In addition, free hands-on CPR and AED trainings for lay persons are conducted through the pro bono services of Revive CPR.  First aid kits, sanitizers, water bottles, bas and other giveaways are handed out to the attendees.  PCCI is grateful to the Methodist Hospital of Dallas Mobile Mammography for the free mammograms benefitting the uninsured in the Dallas and Collin counties through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

PCCI periodically conducts medical and dental missions in the Philippines in partnership with the non-profit M25 Movement and with the local doctors for free medical screenings and health consultations; local dentists for free check-ups and free tooth extractions.  Free medicines, nutritional supplements and reading glasses are also distributed.  Target areas for these medical mission services are the poorest group in a given community.

In addition, PCCI also raised funds for the hospitalization and medication post-operation recovery of children who underwent open heart surgery in Iloilo City. This was in coordination with the Philippine Heart Center and Bantay Bata - Iloilo.

In May of 2021 PCCI, in partnership with local Filipino organizations and PowerHouse Pharmacy, conducted Covid-19 vaccinations.  A total of 119 adults and children 12 years and above received both does of the Pfizer Covid vaccine,
